A woman who was hit by a bottle during a Christmas night out has been successful in her accident claim and earlier this month received compensation after an 18 month struggle.
The girl was injured when a fight broke out outside a pub in Reddish, Greater Manchester on Christmas Eve 2007. She sustained a deep cut above one of her eyes as well as several other lacerations.
The woman made her claim with the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) which compensates victims who have been involved in violent crime. The victim claimed that the police had failed to gather sufficient evidence – according to the victim they only took down basic details and failed to obtain CCTV footage of the incident.
After several failed attempts, she has now been awarded £1,500 in compensation
