Compensation for Asbestos Victim

04.02.2010

Compensation cases against employers are not always accident claims but are often related to industrial disease cases like this one.

A man who feel ill because of exposure to asbestos has been awarded compensation by his former employer.  The man worked at a college as a plasterer for 35 years and as part of his job he helped a joiner to insulate the roof of the college’s theatre.  He was not supplied with a mask or told about the danger involved and he was exposed to deadly asbestos particles.

The man has subsequently been diagnosed with malignant pleural mesothelioma.  He decided to take legal action in order to pay for his care.  A compensation award of £45,000 has been agreed.
