A Yorkshire postman secured a successful compensation payout after trapping his finger in a letter box whist delivering letters.
Denis Coleman received hospital treatment to his finger, which required three stitches. He argued that the personal injury suffered was so painful he had to remain off work for six weeks. The 52 year old, a keen amateur darts player, alleged he was unable to compete in local darts tournaments which resulted in the possible loss of cash prizes.
Mr Coleman received £3,000 in damages as a result of his personal injury accident claim. His settlement came from the household insurers and not Royal Mail.
