A widow whose husband died from an asbestos related cancer after his lungs were damaged by exposure to asbestos in the workplace, has been successful in her personal injury claim on her husbands behalf.
She has finally been compensated with over £10,000 after the case had been unsuccessfully pursued by two previous law firms.
Research showed that asbestos could have a harmful effect on lung tissue as far back as 1898. Despite this knowledge, employers were still exposing staff to it more than 80 years later.
Exposure to asbestos can cause cancers and other asbestos-related illness like mesothelioma or emphysema.
