Recent research has revealed that a significant proportion of skiers are not investing in adequate travel insurance.
These are the findings of a study undertaken by the Post Office. They discovered that 22% of travellers failed to take out insurance when going on a skiing holiday, in a misguided attempt to save money. Skiing however is a high risk sport.
75% of accidents claims, the Post Office highlights, are for medical bills and if you have no insurance it can be costly. A broken arm, for example, can cost as much a £9,000.
Rachel Croft, Head of Travel Insurance at the Post Office commented that winter sports are great fun but there are greater risks involved. She went on to add that due to the high cost of medical bills adequate travel insurance is crucial.
