A former Altrincham footballer received £32,000 in compensation following an injury he received in a football match against Ashton United.
The 34 year old suffered a broken tibia, fibia and an open fracture to his shin as a result of a tackle from defender Danny White, ending his football career.

Ashton United's Chairman, David Aspinall responded, saying that the club does not have the financial means to pay any accident claims made against them. They are considering appealing the decision, but this could spell the end of the club.
