Wife of Olympic Athlete Claims Compensation

The wife of a potential Olympic athlete has lodged a £500,000 compensation claim following the death of her husband in January 2008.

Jason Macintyre was fatally injured by a council van veering into his path whilst he was out training for the Commonwealth Games.

After admitting careless driving, Robert McTaggart, 36, was banned from driving for 6 months and fined £500. In order to substantiate accident claims of this nature an inquiry into the incident is scheduled for this week.

Mrs Macintyre is seeking compensation from the Highland Council and the driver of the van. However, on the eve of the inquiry reports show, that sadly the family on both sides have fallen out over their grief.
