A woman who suffered permanent injuries as the result of a road traffic accident in 2004 is to receive a large personal injury compensation payout.

The accident has been partlyblamed on an un-even road verge and although the judge felt that the claimant should have been more careful whilst driving in icy conditions. He stated that the local County Council were 50% liable for failing to properly maintain the verge which had a dangerous drop-off of at least 4 inches.
Despite the claimant's damages being reduced by 50% her injuries are so severe that she will still be due a significant sum in personal injury compensation.
