Accident At Work Case Study - Mr A
Mr. A sustained injury following an accident at work. Mr A was employed as a trackman and on this occasion fell whilst undertaking track repairs at 2.00am. There were hazards on the track where Mr A was working and poor lighting. As a result, Mr A fell into a hole causing him to suffer injury to his left ankle and knee. Mr A sustained a partial tear of his Anterior Cruciate Ligament which weakened his knee and 5 days after the accident his injured ankle gave way causing a full rupture of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament requiring surgery. Mr A was absent from work for a significant period of time following the accident.

Accident At Work Case Study - Mr V
Mr V was working at the Defendant college as a tutor and had been instructed to clear up their workshop and move some machinery. Part of clearing the workshop involved moving centre lathes from one workshop to another. Each of the lathes measured approximately 6 feet long and 3 feet wide and weighed approximately between 750kgs and 1 tone. One of the lathes started toppling and Mr V was unable to hold the same and was forced to jump out of the way. In the process, Mr V landed awkwardly and badly twisted his left ankle. Mr V suffered with a soft tissue ankle injury with a 1 month prognosis.

Accident At Work Case Study - Mr Y
Mr Y was an employee of a national supermarket and responsible for replenishing groceries. Mr Y was in the freezer room and noticed that a number of wheeled cages had been positioned in front of the discontinued items. As Mr Y was moving these out of the way, a number of the frozen items from the cage fell off and onto Mr Y. One of these items was a large frozen turkey which struck Mr Y on the right shoulder. Mr Y suffered with badly torn ligaments in his shoulder as a result of this accident.

Pedestrian Trip Claim Case Study - Mrs D
Mrs D was walking in a pedestrian area when she tripped on an uneven paving stone on the pavement and fell over in August 2010. A claim was brought against the Council who were responsible for the area. Mrs D sustained bruising and soft tissue injuries to her face, knee and leg and was expected to be fully recovered from her injuries within one year of the date of the accident.

Personal Injury Claims Case Study - Mr B
Mr. B sustained an injury whilst attending a digger training course at the Defendant’s premises. Mr B was unemployed at the time and was undergoing further training to aid his return to the workplace. Whilst alighting from a JCB excavator, Mr B’s left hand caught on a bolt protruding from the hand rail. His wedding ring caught on the bolt leaving him hanging and causing a severe laceration to his finger. Mr B required hospital treatment and his wound was cleaned and stitched under local anesthetic. Mr B was left with permanent symptoms in the finger and had to delay his search for employment. The training company continuously denied liability for the accident and Court proceedings were issued against the Defendant. With only weeks to go to trial the Defendant made an offer to settle the Claimants claim and the case resolved without the need from the Claimant to attend Court.

Mrs C from Essex slipped on rainwater that had accumulated in the building at Ascot Races. Mrs C suffered a serious fracture injury to her elbow requiring extensive surgery. Personal Injury Claims Case Study - Ms X
Ms X was standing on a jetty at a Marina discharging on-board sewage from a canal boat she was using. Ms X saw the Defendant, along with a few others trying to retrieve their boat from the water. The Defendant got into his car and was attempting to move his boat and trailer from the water. Ms X turned back to what she was doing and suddenly felt an incredible pain in her right thigh. The Defendant had attempted to pull the trailer and boat from the water whilst one of the mooring ropes from the rear of the boat was still attached to the jetty. As the tension built on the rope this snapped off and whipped back hitting Ms X and causing injury and muscle damage to her thigh.

Road Traffic Accident Case Studies - Mr D
Mr D was a passenger in a taxi which was involved in a road traffic accident when the Defendant entered a roundabout and hit the side of the taxi in which he was travelling . Mr D suffered whiplash and soft tissue damage in his back, neck and arm. Mr D’s injuries lasted for approximately 9 months. He was assisted in his recovery by physiotherapy.

Road Traffic Accident Case Study - Mr E
Mr E was involved in a Road Traffic Accident when the Defendant driving a large tractor, suddenly and without warning moved over to the incorrect side of the carriageway heading straight at Mr E’s vehicle. The Defendant hit the Mr E’s vehicle with the bucket of the tractor causing it to go through the bonnet, windscreen and roof of Mr E’s and sink between Mr E and his passenger. Mr E suffered injury to his neck which was treated with physiotherapy and also suffered from psychological injury including flashbacks and travel anxiety. The driver of the tractor was not insured and the matter was pursued through the Motor Insurers Bureau.

Mr C was injured in a Road Traffic Accident that occurred in May 2008. The Defendant was driving a lorry which was leaking oil over the road and caused Mr C to skid and fall off his bicycle.
