Itchy Sofa Claim
Awarded £6,725
Mr C purchased a brand new leather sofa and reclining chair from Argos. Shortly after taking delivery of the furniture, his skin started to become extremely itchy, hot and bright red, as if he was sunburnt. As weeks progressed, several layers of skin on his back started peeling and the red hot skin condition spread to his back, neck, thighs and buttocks. He was referred to a Dermatologist by his own GP, and was eventually admitted to Hospital for biopsies, tests and intensive treatment on his skin.
After hearing press coverage about other people who had suffered similar symptoms after purchasing furniture from Argos, his Dermatologist advised him that his chronic skin complaint was linked to the leather furniture being sold at Argos.
First Personal Injury handled his case as his skin complaints continued for 15 months. Argos admitted responsibility for Mr C's injuries and he was awarded the sum of £6725.
