In 1998 Ben Eeles, now 12 years old, suffered severe head injuries during a devastating collision between a passenger car and coach along the A12 highway in Norfolk. Whilst Ben Eeles survived, several others were not as fortunate. Ben now requires cost care and will do for the rest of his life. Ben is still receiving theory for his motor, speech and focus skills. Despite this, Ben is still able to live a content life but a large cost is required to keep him comfortable.

A number of years ago the company that owned the coach took responsibility for the collision and as a result of that their insurance firm had to agree to any compensation claims that any of the victims might have requested. From this, Ben will receive over £3 million in compensation. The exact amount he will receive has not been disclosed due to the sheer severity of Ben’s condition and to respect the family’s wishes.
People often have the misconception that if a claim is not made within a specific length of time after the accident or injury has taken place, then it will not be viable. These people are often right as long as the injury is relatively insignificant. However in some cases including Ben’s, where the injury is so severe, treatment is so stringent and the case is so publically discussed, compensation is permitted long after the accident.
