Your sofa should be a safe place to relax. The last thing you expect is for your new leather sofa to give you an alarming itchy skin rash. That’s exactly what’s happened to hundreds of people who’ve bought sofas from high street retailers Argos, Land of Leather and Walmsleys.

Do you have an itchy sofa? If you have, you could have an itchy sofa claim.

OVER 100,000 ITCHY SOFAS SOLD

It’s been a busy day with calls from itchy sofa injury claimants coming in fast. People are in real distress. After all, who expects a new sofa to create alarming health problems? I’ve also been wondering how many people still have no idea their sofa is the cause of their skin reactions. It’s estimated that over 100,000 itchy sofas have been sold through British retailers.

It’s good to be able to give injury claim callers the facts about what’s happening and put their minds at rest about compensation. The last thing people want right now is a long and complicated injury claim procedure. I’m able to reassure claimants I can take care of the whole process for them. This is good news as, given the extent of their injuries, they have more than enough to worry about.

This afternoon I spoke to another itchy sofa claimant who bought a leather sofa from Argos a few months ago. Almost immediately after taking delivery of the sofa, she started to experience itchy sofa symptoms – a painful, red rash, itching, blisters and scaly skin. She described it as being like “really bad sunburn”. It was only when a friend told her about the itchy sofa story featured on the BBC Watchdog programme, that she made the connection. Her expensive new sofa was the culprit.

Thankfully for this claimant, the situation is improving. Treatment from her doctor has sorted out her skin symptoms and she’s back to full health. Her itchy sofa compensation claim is also well underway and I’m keeping her fully up to date with progress.

What is an itchy sofa?

Itchy sofa is the term coined for itchy skin reactions to sofas made by Chinese manufacturer Linkwise. These itchy sofas are responsible for distressing dermatitis symptoms including blisters, skin burning and painful itchy rashes.

Many itchy sofa owners have reported being in agony as a result of simply sitting on their new sofas. They’ve been treated with creams and antibiotics. Some itchy sofa owners have been prescribed steroids. Some have even been hospitalised.

What makes a sofa itchy?

This was a mystery at first and many itchy sofa owners didn’t even realise their sofa was the cause of their itchy rash. Now research has shown itchy sofa symptoms are the result of a chemical used in itchy sofas to prevent mould.

Can I make an itchy sofa claim?

If you have an itchy sofa, you may be entitled to compensation. Itchy sofa symptoms cause a lot of suffering. You may have had time off work. You might also be worried about the future effects of your itchy sofa symptoms. Thankfully, it seems itchy sofa owners won’t suffer long-term symptoms, but no-one can be certain until all the evidence is examined.

This means itchy sofa owners can make a claim for compensation.
