The victims of the drug Thalidomide who were damaged in the 1950s and 60s when their Mothers took the anti-sickness drug during pregnancy are hoping for a government payout before Christmas.
It has been proposed that the UKs 460 survivors will receive around £18,000 per year in compensation from the government.
The drug was state approved and the latest proposed compensationwould be paid to the victims through the Thalidomide Trust which was established with the proceeds from accident claims against the drug's distributors.
