Accident claims against local councils are reportedlyon the increase. Recently an elderly woman, who was severely injured when a tree collapsed in high winds, has mounted a civil action which could total £75,000. She claims that the council was negligent because the tree was not inspected thoroughly and the accident could have been avoided.
The woman who injured her back neck and head in the accident which happened 2007 is making the accident claim against Haringey Council.
The woman's injuries were both physical and psychological. They include headaches, dizzy spells, anxiety, and loss of confidence, nightmares and flashbacks. She has required help on a daily basis since the accident.
