In the past two years Waltham Forest Council has paid around £50,000 in compensation to victims who have injured themselves from a slip, trip or fall on the public pavements.

Marks & Spencer have recently had to payout £7,500 in compensation to a woman who injured herself whilst shopping at the supermarket in Perth. The 71-year-old woman was shopping for groceries when she slipped on a spillage of prawn cocktail and water on the floor.

Public events can be anything from a festival to an exhibition, and usually involve a gathering of people in a public space.
