Family Seek Compensation After Head On Collision

Family Seek Compensation Claim After Head On Collision
The family of a young woman who was badly disfigured as the result of a head-on collision are making a compensation claim for £500,000.

The road traffic accident took place in November 2004. The claimant’s Fiat Panda was hit head-on by a white van whose driver was racing with another vehicle. He was going 55 mph and attempting to pass a car on the brow of a hill when the accident occurred.

The driver of the white van has recently been sentenced to 18 months in prison for dangerous driving and an additional six months for failure to turn up to court.

The claimant, who was only 18 when the crash happened suffered brain damage, a broken leg, a broken arm and serious cuts to her face which have left her with permanent scarring.

The judge at Guildford Crown Court told the defendant: “As a result of what witnesses describe as racing, you being in the second of two vans, you collided with a vehicle driven by a totally innocent young woman, who was badly injured. No sentence I can impose can compensate her.”

If you have been injured as the result of an accident which wasn’t your fault you could be entitled to make a personal injury compensation claim.
