Following a diagnosis of COPD, the client contacted us to make an industrial disease injury claim.   The client had started work for British Steel in 1979 as a shift engineer which involved plant maintenance, the client worked on the coke ovens with the maintenance teams.  The plant was closed in 1990, but the client had stayed on stripping the plant down until 1992.   It was proven that the client had developed COPD due to working in the coke oven environment as they had been exposed to toxic substances.
