'Broken' Compensation Scheme
17 Jul 2023
A new report by Survivors Against Terror (SAT) looked at the Government’s Criminal Injuries and Compensation Authority (CICA) scheme calling the scheme broken.
The report which can be viewed in full here is the result of a survey taken by survivors of terror attacks. It looks at the CICA Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme-a government financial compensation scheme that handles claims from people who have suffered physical or mental injuries as a result of violent crime.
The report includes evidence from multiple survivors of CICA’s failure to help and compensate them and, drawing on their testimony, makes detailed recommendations for a new compensation authority.
